Since 2011, Campaign for Vermont has been advocating for public policies that set our state along a path to prosperity - from ethics, transparency, and accountability to general fund budgeting and taxation!
On the education front- It’s no secret that Vermont has lost 20,000 students over the past two decades, with little change to the number of teachers, staff and administrators. Recently announced by Gov. Phil Scott, Vermonters can expect a property tax increase of 7 percent or more. New school mergers promise little in the way of savings.
Campaign for Vermont is a non-partisan non-profit 501(c)4 organization with a proven record of offering innovative solutions that promote prosperity and economic security for all Vermonters. We believe in 21st Century economic policies that foster the creation of good paying jobs, with environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and a quality of life second to none. We fight for political discourse that is fact-based, data-driven, and puts progress ahead of partisanship.
As the 2018 Vermont legislative session approaches, Campaign for Vermont (CFV) will be introducing and advocating for a proposal to encourage international high school students to study in our state. Similar proposals have been implemented elsewhere in the United States with great success. CFV’s International Student proposal will generate new revenue, address school-funding gaps, diversify our student population, and lower your property taxes over time.
Opening Vermont public high schools to tuition paying international students would yield approx. $39,000 per student in additional revenue and provide for the potential of up to $100,000,000 in secondary economic impact. The demand is apparent; there has been a 10-fold increase in F-01 student visas over the last decade. Vermont has an incredible opportunity for significant social and economic benefits – but we need your help to make it happen!
Our public policy efforts are supported by Vermonters just like you who believe in CFV’s mission of developing public policy that fosters prosperity for all Vermonters in every corner of our state. Please consider making your year-end contribution to Campaign for Vermont. Our organization runs a lean operation.
