This week we announced our new "Vision for Vermont," which introduces a sharper message and better defines what we are working towards. We want to see a Vermont that is fiscally, socially, and environmentally sustainable, and where everyone can succeed. We do very well as a state in areas such as environmental and social responsibility, but we have families that are struggling to make ends meet. We must be proactive and forward thinking if we are to create a place where every Vermonter can succeed.

Campaign for Vermont Prosperity envisions:

♦  Vermont public policy that fosters prosperity for ALL Vermonters from every corner of the state and all walks of life.

♦  21st Century economic policies that foster the creation of family-sustaining jobs, with environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and a desirable quality of life.

♦  Political discourse that is data-driven and puts progress ahead of partisanship.

♦  State and local governments that are transparent and accountable, fostering a political atmosphere, and an administrative and communications infrastructure that promotes and encourages an engaged and active electorate. 

We have set forward several benchmarks for success including: decreasing the gap between cost of living and household income, more bipartisan legislation and less political finger-pointing, economic growth and more affordable housing and utility costs, and higher participation in town meeting and other public hearings.

Accountability is really important to us. In order to address the entrenched problems our state is facing we need a transparent and responsive state government. Our goal is to set the standard for transparency and accountability by including benchmarks for success in our vision. We will hold ourselves to that.
