Senate Appropriations Committee, I fully appreciate that you are in the midst of crafting a state budget that meets the needs of Vermonters in an uncertain environment. That is no easy task and I thank you for stepping up to it.
I want to voice support for the Vermont Ethics Commission and the staffing they need to meet an increasing demand for services. Vermonters are more and more seeking assurances that their public officials are operating in their best interests. It’s no surprise, we are at a time when trust in government institutions is at one of its lowest points in history. An effective and responsive Vermont State Ethics Commission is one of the best remedies for this and we ask that you support their work.
