"This month’s jobs report shows Vermont’s unemployment rate holding steady, with a slight decline in the number of employed individuals. Additionally, as members of the baby-boomer generation continue to exit the workforce, this has had a direct impact on our Labor Force Participation Rate. It is because of this that the Department of Labor continues to place labor force expansion at the top of its priority list. Whether through new apprenticeship opportunities or creating career pathways for New Americans, the growth of Vermont’s workforce is critical to our sustainable success. As we begin a new year, we must also recommit ourselves to working together to meet this challenge."
Commissioner Michael Harrington
Vermont Department of Labor
